"When You Wish Upon A Star"

A Story from the Rainbow Bridge - November 20, 1999

Brandon dashed into God's presence, yelling excitedly, "Is she coming now?  Is she?  Is she?"  He had heard the crash and seen the tangled mass of metal.

God smiled gently as He bent to pick up the tiny white angel and cradled him in His arms.

"No, Brandon," He said, "she's not coming yet."

Seeing Brandon's disappointment, God sat down to explain.  He nestled Brandon into the soft white folds of His robe and said:

"You see, Brandon, her work isn't finished on Earth.  I need her to do things that no one else but she can do.

"There are people suffering from illness or hurt that won't get through without her strength that she shares so willingly.

"There are sad people who need to hear her sweet voice whispering comfort and encouragement to get them through the heartbreak.

"There are people just waiting to hear the story of her troubled life to realize that they, too, can carry on.

"There are dear friends that need her to cheer them and comfort them and be there when things go wrong.

"Her family needs her loving heart to lift their spirits.

"There are strangers she hasn't even met yet that will need the special love and caring that only she can give.

"Yes, my dear Brandon, she has much to do before she joins you here.  She will bring comfort, strength, love, and joy to many.

"Now do you understand, my little one?" God asked.

Brandon had listened intently and now smiled his special smile and said "Yes, God, I understand. My jobs were all finished and it was time for me to rest.  But her jobs aren't finished yet, so she must stay on Earth and finish them.  Then she will come and be with me."

God smiled down at the tiny white angel.

"Am I still her special angel?" Brandon asked as he jumped down from God's knee.

"Yes, you are" God replied as His love flowed over Brandon like a river.

And Brandon, warm and happy, trotted off to his favorite spot at the Rainbow Bridge to wait . . . for however long it might be.

Jeanette,
Can you see Santa this week and ask for a miracle.  I want my Brandon back healthy.   I only ask for one miracle.
I love you.
You are so special.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Dearest Dale,

Oh, how I wish I could wave a magic wand and give Brandon back to you!!

But Brandon has other assignments that he is needed for now, like watching over Misty and Cappy until they get back home, and welcoming the newcomers to the Rainbow Bridge and easing their entry into a new life, and watching over you until the time comes for the two of you to be reunited.

He has to be the star that beckons to the lost traveler and shows him the way; the light in the distance that many keep struggling to reach; the warm glow of love that so many have forgotten, but awakens in them again; the promise that Angels whisper when the world is steeped in sadness.

Without Brandon to do these things, many souls would be left without hope.  Each Angel has his job to do and all are needed to supply the vast needs of a woeful world.

So please try in this Holiday Season to be thankful for the love you shared for 13 years and remember all the good times and try not to be so sad because he is gone.  He is just in another place, doing his job and waiting for the day when the two of you will be together again.

I am thankful for Brandon's life and the happiness he brought to you, and I am thankful for little Angels like him to watch over Angels like you who are still here on Earth.

God bless and comfort you always.

Love,
Jeanette
