You warm my heart, my smiling child, my
second son by birth;
my second cup of joy.
None can compare to you so fair, with eyes of bluest blue;
my gem of countless worth.
With curling hair and bubbling laugh that pleases mother’s
ear,
and makes a smile appear.
You run on chubby legs to see and touch and taste and hear,
each thing that you find near.
You tease your brother endlessly and steal away his toys,
his treasures to possess.
Then grin and hug his neck when caught, to charm with
tenderness,
and all his wrath destroy.
My child of gentle, loving ways, with laughter free and
bright,
and heart so tender bent.
May angels all your life attend, with love and peace untold;
my blessing, Heaven sent.
