My Flowers

I've been busy planting flowers again in 2004.  One of my biggest pleasures is walking in my yard or sitting in my lounge with my Bichons, Lacy and Cosmo, and enjoying the beauty of my plants and flowers.  I have some of the same flowers from 2003 and some new ones for the first time in 2004.

My crepe myrtle is getting too big and will have to be pruned this fall.
It's beautiful though!

The Asian lilies have just begun to bloom.  There are three of them and they will have 28-30 blossoms.

Wisteria on big trellis and close-up of wisteria blossom. So sweet!

Red gladiolas, geraniums, and
hibiscus near rain barrel.

Gorgeous red gladiolas.  I am
so proud of them!

Late gladiolas - still very pretty!

Dwarf sunflower - the only one!

Deep purple petunias.  They look like velvet and smell a bit spicy.

A very pretty pink mandevilla
sharing the wisteria's trellis.

I have 29 caladiums down the east side of my mobile home.  This one is particularly pretty beside the big yellow snail.

Colorful caladium plants and a caladium bloom!

Row of caladiums beside my mobile home.

My butterfly bush has been moved, but seems to love it's corner next to the house.

Pretty white columbine that is
done blooming now, but will be back next spring.

Gorgeous orange impatiens.  Had to have them since Tennessee is
"Big Orange" (Tennessee Vols) country.

Yes, I know, mums aren't supposed to bloom until September, but this one got the seasons mixed up and started blooming the last week in May.  It's still in full bloom.  I hope it remembers to bloom again in September!

Pansies and azalea in whiskey barrel with multi-colored duck and close up
of pansies and azalea blooms.  This is one of my favorite spots in my yard.
The azalea has been moved and the pansies removed since this picture
was taken and this is a yellow and purple corner now.

Colorful nasturtiums.  The leaves don't look good, but they bloom and
bloom.  These are "old fashioned" flowers that I like a lot.

A new hibiscus bush.

A beautiful hibiscus blossom.

Lovely salmon-colored begonia surrounded by purple heuchera.

Big Swedish ivy plant on my patio.  It is lush and seems "cool" when you're near it.  I like to sit in a chair beside it in the evening.

Here's my old hen and little chickens
cactus.  It's obviously going strong!

Bright green and white hosta.

This is my gardenia with one lone bloom.  It did poorly inside, but is doing well outside.  I'm hoping for more blooms soon!

Clematis on an unusual trellis.

Close up of clematis blooms.

This is an "Easter egg plant."  It is just an eggplant that produces white,
egg-shaped fruit.  My 7-year-old granddaughter gets a kick out of this one.

These are yellow-leaved hostas, which I had never seen before.  I   hope they will grow and fill up the whiskey barrel!

My pretty English ivy is thriving and has a big, arched trellis to climb on.  It started with one little plant in a small pot.  It stays green all winter and has deep green, glossy leaves.  It is very attractive.  There are yellow day lilies under the arched trellis.

I got a picture of one of the first hummingbirds to arrive this year.

I have a lot of them and I love 'em!

My "trademark" white swan with red begonia.

What is this???  Yep, it's a poinsettia left over from last Christmas!

My new green umbrella
that Trent and Darin
set up.  Brianna is
enjoying the shade!

When all the work is done and everyone's fed, watered,
fertilized, weeded, and walked, this is what my
Bichons, Lacy and Cosmo, and I do.  It's a great life!!
