Well, ya never know what's going to happen in 2nd grade music class...
I mean...one day we all went on a bear hunt, another day we sang about a marvelous toy...and one day, we all got to play ukuleles.

This is where the music adventure began...especially for my parents. I bugged them for a uke 'till they got me one for Christmas. Then a banjo, and then a guitar, and the next thing they knew they were being dragged from one smoky honky tonk to the next. Who knew!

Music gets in the blood. I was hooked...thanks to Mr. Block and that innocent-looking ukulele.

With maternal roots in the appalachian mountains, I grew up singing and playing the old-timey songs of Kentucky and West Virginia. So of course, I've got quite a yearning for Irish and Scottish music too. And somewhere along the way, a little blues and jazz made their way into the mix. A duke's mixture, as my Granny used to say.

So, here's to the monkey...let's play some tunes...
