Furbys in Australia

There are a number of Furbys living in Australia today including those descending from John Furby born 1787 and his wife Sarah.

In 1831, John Furby and Thomas Furby were convicted at the Old Bailey in London and sent to Australia. They may have been brothers though they travelled to Australia on different ships - "Georgina" (John) and "Exmouth" (Thomas).

Descendents of Edward Furby born ~1844
Edward is believed to have been born in Yorkshire. His son, also Edward was born at Berwick-upon-Tweed about 1870. The family left Plymouth on the 20th November 1875 on the "Earl of Dalhousie" and arrived at Sydney on the 15th February 1876.

Descendents of Edward Furby born 1845
My great great grandfather (John William Furby born in London in 1812) had a brother James Samuel Furby who was born in 1823. James Samuel married Ann Maria Thwaites in 1843 and their son, John James Furby emigrated to Queensland and has descendents in Australia today

Descendents of George Frederick Furby born 1849
Another of my great great grandfather's brother's was George Frederick Furby who was born in 1820. George Frederick married Mary Ann Smith and had a son also George Frederick who was born 1849. The family emigrated and arrived in South Australia on board the "Canterbury" in 1869 and has descendents there today
