All too often, we feel that our name and contact information should be the focus of our ad. After all, our customers need to know how to find us. However, what a prospective buyer really wants to know is: What are you selling? What are the features? What are the benefits?

Effective print and web advertising design has the product or service as the main focal point. Photographs for product advertising should be high quality and occupy at least one half to two thirds of the ad space. Your company name and contact info should be easily located in the ad, but sized and placed 'low key'. With an enticing ad layout, a buyer will then look for information on how to obtain the product or service.

Also remember that your ad may appear in a variety of media. A full color ad may look great, but if you want to run that same ad in a black and white publication, like a newspaper or flyer, subtle color gradients won't show up well. That's why we recommend a high contrast color scheme for ad design. Your ad will look great in color as well as black and white.
