Paula came to us after being shot in the nose over a misunderstanding with some chickens. She was running stray at the time. She almost bled to death – the veterinarian who saved her life said in another ten minutes she would have died. The bullet fragmented and lodged in the bones of her muzzle, where they stayed for the rest of her life. Even though she was in critical condition and almost dead, she gave kisses to the vet tech who was assisting with her care. The man suspected of being her owner took one look at her injuries and declared she was not his. DeSoto Animal Control wanted to take her, but they admitted they would not be able to adopt her out and would probably euthanize her over the problem with the chickens. She, like most Siberians, was definitely an escape artist – she escaped from her run at the vet clinic several times and went visiting the other patients! We named her after a famous nose job that has been in the news, but we think our Paula was much prettier! Paula was never adopted. She lived with use for about three years.
